There are many. One thing is her Apple id is under my email. I have given her her own email now, but I have it forwarding copies to me. This is if she uses hers to sign up for new apps, I have a record both ways. If your worried, all texts can be forwarded as well.
Do your research. Of course, ip adresses and urls can be blocked.
No matter what, you still have to parent. I frequently test them on giving me their passcode. They HAVE to know you will be watching at all times. They are kids

Like others have said, once you reach the age where they might be in the house alone or at activities where your not there the whole time the phone becomes a necessity.
Multiple times dance class ends early, it starts raining at tennis practice, or there was a miscommunication in start and ending times. Being able to text a parent is important.

16. With a job to pay for it.
Jk. I was about 10 when I got my first phone. But I went Lafayette for Easter Break to see my friend that moved after Katrina. So my brother gave me his old phone so I could stay in touch with them. Couldn't do anything but call (which is all I really wanted and needed at the time) and before texting was common.

Any age at which time she might be away from you and need to get in touch with her. My son is 9 and has his own cell

She can talk and text but can't send or receive pics.
There's several apps for this if she has smartphone

Our rule was 12 years old. It was more for the after school activities than anything else. I'm not at all concerned about my oldest daughter. My youngest, however, will be the one I have to worry about. She's 9, so it'll be a couple years, but still...

My wife has a friend who spies on her daughters phone every morning before she wakes up. She requires her to leave it charging in the kitchen at night so she can't stay in her room and text all night. The daughter has to know its a possibility but her boyfriend still sends dirty texts and discusses sexual acts they have done. Now the mom feels like she needs to talk to her to keep her safe but the daughter lies and says she hasn't done anything with the boyfriend. She is almost 18 so I feel you gotta respect the privacy at that age. I kept everything a secret. Glad I have boys.
