What is more likely to cause weight gain?

Paxil or malapsorption of fats due to gallbadder surgery?
I weighed 142 when I had surgery in January 2016. Now, I weigh 170 and all the fat is going to my midsection. I'm not really eating any more than I always did. If anything, I eat healthier than I used to, but my digestion has never been the same since surgery.
My hypothesis is that my body is storing all the fat because it doesn't know what else to do with it because it can't break it down like it used to, but I have also read Paxil can cause weight gain. I have taken 20mg since January 2017.

No, but it's greatly benefited my anxiety.

On the real, Paxil lowers Testosterone too. I'm sure you know of or have experienced the 'sex drive' side effects.
Lower Test will cause weight gain.

how severe is your anxiety?
I take buspirone, other than making me feel dizzy for about 10-15 minutes, I find it works ok.
it also doesnt help your body doesnt efficiently absorb fats like it once did.
change your fat intake to poly and mono unsaturated fats. saturated fats need to be more mct based such as coconut oil or extra virgin coconut oil
id also start doing some interval training for cardio and large barbell multi joint exercises such as squats deadlifts bench press and overhead presses
id get blood work done to check your test and iron levels too.
maybe seek a psychologist to help you do some exposure desensitization training to help you identify your triggers and gradually expose yourself to them to your lower your anxiety levels

Taking in more calories than you burn off.

I took it for a bout a month in 2010. I was jerkin off one time and totally lost the wood and sat there for about 20 seconds like "why am i holding my pecker?". Was the most unfamiliar feeling ever.
Fortunately I was able to quit it by drinking less coffee(none after lunch) and exercised alot more.

You probably don’t workout. I’m 220 and have a lower body fat % than you, why? I train my arse off.
Get on a treadmill and eat better

Paxil will effect your weight. I trained my as off 2 hours five days a week and watched what I ate. I was 6 ft 165 before taking Paxil. I gained about 10 pounds with no change to my diet or exercise routine for the year I was taking it. Once I stopped taking Paxil my weight dropped slowly back down.

metabolism slowed down and if you had a kid during that time frame(yes even as a dad/not mom), that's the reason
