I want to get one for my wife so if she has to jump start her car leaving work or somewhere she can do it herself easily without relying on jumper cables to put on another vehicle.

I have a bunch of old car so I've got several jump boxes. I have not had trouble with any of them. I would get one that is overpowered for her car as long as weight is not a problem. An underpowered charger will often be insufficient to start the car

Someone gave me this one for Christmas a year ago. Only had to use it a couple times but it worked no problem.

Not sure why my link won’t isn’t working as usual.

Weego 44 ($80 Amazon). Tiny and powerful. Started my 150 Yamaha outboard too. USB ports as well. Problem is women will deplete the charge with their phones LINK

So do we. Stanley jumper

We got it because it also has an air compressor and USB port as well.

Used it a couple of times, it works. You can get it in different amperages.

Does take up a fair bit of room in the trunk/car.

Jump-N-Carry is the only good choice. I lived in PA and those shitty NOCO units couldn't start shite in the winter. Yes, it's a heavy sumbitch but it works where lesser units don't.

Any of the highly rated ones from Amazon.

Be sure she is clear on how to use it and that the battery terminals are easily accessible. On a lot of newer cars, they are a pita to get to.

It is basically a high-discharge capacitor, so just give her a quick lesson on how to use it.

If you have Verizon just spend a couple of extra bucks for their roadside service.

If you have USAA roadside service comes with your account.

Or, just subscribe to AAA.

It's not worth asking a female loved one to figure out how to properly jump a car or fix a tire when you can have someone come and do it for her.

I would advise to get the most powerful and simple unit that you can get. Basic is better.
I bought one of the Stanley units back in Sep. at Walmart that had the built in air compressor, led Light, USB plugs and an inverter with a 110AC outlet. It cost 100 bucks.
The week before Christmas, I needed to use it. The first time. Battery was dead on one of our vehicles in The driveway. It would not start that vehicle for some reason. The computer kept tripping out of the jumper mode and the air compressor would start.
Had to drag out my 30 foot cables anyway and the vehicle fired right up. Luckily, Walmart refunded my money on that POS.

My advice: Get a jumper box that has one damn function.

As many as stated, NOCO.

They make very high quality, very robust charging products. Only downside is theyre a little pricey.

I have one of their Gen 4, 4-bank battery tender-chargers that I use to keep my boat, tractor, riding mower and truck battery topped off. I also have one of their jump starters. GB70. I've used it a few times works very well and you can get multiple jumps off of it.

But as Auburn fan auggie stated, when it comes to emergency products like jumpstarters you want something simple. The simpler the better. Reliability is key. Stick to the KISS philosophy.

You have to remember to bring it in and charge it up every quarter or so. Or you end up like a lady I know whose father gave her one. She put it in the trunk, but it was dead when she needed it a year later.

Charge it around calendar events (easy to remember), and you'll be good. Christmas/New Years, Spring Time Change, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving.

I typed up simple and fool-proof instructions, printed them in large type, and put them in the case.

A lady had a dead battery, and a bunch of guys were standing around her car with a jumper looking clueless. My wife got hers out, followed the instructions, and got the lady on her way.
