What if the Nazis made it to England in 1940?

I read recently that England was well enough defended to simply pull back and bring in the Royal Navy to close the channel and starve them out. Did the Brits have enough tanks, etc to hold them off and wait them out?

I did Nazi this coming.

It wasn’t tanks they needed more of.
It was truck nuts.

No. The BEF had to abandon virtually all their heavy weaponry in France when they evacuated at Dunkirk. Virtually all their tanks and Artillery had been lost. Had the Germans been able to land on the British isles the Brits would have to sue for peace. They had nothing left.

It would’ve made for a different Europe, that’s for sure. Hypothetical situations like this are always so entertaining to think about.
Here’s one for you, what if the Allies would have lost WWI?

An early loss for the allies would have been the best case scenario. Some territories change and you don’t have that devestating loss of life that took away generations and doomed the world to a second helping of it.

WW2’s biggest “what-if?” revolves around Nazi Germany’s plans for the Truck Nut. Terrifying.

Exactly this. The best thing that could have happen was a German-Austrian victory in 1914.

Likely the world would have never had tikka masala

Wars are fought for three reasons.
Land
Resources
Truck Nuts

True, but that is a big if.
The Brits would have lost all their overseas possessions when they would have had to pull their navy back to the Isles. But they lost those possessions anyway.
I doubt Germany would have ever been able to cross the Channel if the British Navy had been recalled.

It would have helped the incestuous gene pool of England earlier.

Revolution breaks out in Britain and/or France, and where it's much harder to contain than in semi-agrarian Russia.
OTOH the Brita are too preoccupied to muck up the middle east.

I’d like to say They’d be speaking German along with the rest of Europe and maybe Russia.. but the reality is that the Germans lack of a powerful navy made this highly unlikely even if the full British force was crushed at Dunkirk.. the Germans wanted the British to simply exist on their own and not meddle with Hitlers ultimate plans and they gave it a whirl with the subsequent air campaign.. Its a true testament to the will of the British to hang on until the US was able to get the supply chain moving

I think Britain would have been dealt with eventually, one way or another. They would likely have been coerced into some form of junior partnership, similar to the arrangement Germany had with the likes of Hungary and Romania, with a compliant fascist-leaning government of its own. Hitler couldn't afford to keep an independent, well-armed Britain in his back yard. And the pressure certainly would have been on Britain to give up its Jews.

What does Dan Carlin say? He is Mr. History.

The usual assumption is the Frogs insisted on extreme punishment for Germany which caused Hitler.
But maybe a CP victory would have led to a Hitler type figure in France or England. Or Stalin would have started WW2, complete with an earlier Doctors Plot.
