What if Louisiana got rid of fines and required jail time for everything?

Speeding ticket? One night in the slammer. No auto insurance? A week in the pen. Anything else you get away with paying a fine? Nope. No more fines. Jail time only.

One, it would show the government isn't "serving and protecting" just for the cash flow, and two, local society would probably get its act together.

I'm down. I could use a break and a hot meal every now and again.

I like it. Fixing a ticket will also require jail time.

Law enforcement should have to operate with a set budget, they shouldn't get any usable budget revenue from their tickets or arrests.

That's what this state needs, a bunch of people losing their jobs because they have to go to jail for speeding, expired license plate, jay walking...

Yet another shitty leftist idea from a board that claims to be so conservative.

That you don’t seem to grasp the concept of how costly jailing someone is just as much of a reason why they would go broke as the lack of income from the tickets?
