Brought wife’s car in for a recall recently. They also gave me a laundry list of things they suggested changing for a nominal fee. Best was changing the cabin air filter for 260 dollars. It did need it but I changed it myself in 5 minutes for a total of 21.99.

I was offered 22% financing for a loan on a timeshare in Vegas. I laughed in the guys face and asked if the loan was from Guido’s Savings and Loan…

I asked the wife for anal.

She said sure if I get a vasectomy.

No deal.
If only Mrs Ferguson said this to Mr Ferguson beforehand.

My elderly mother has bought three Hondas over the years from a well known Honda dealer in East Jefferson Parish. She always believed in bringing her car into the dealership for oil changes. She brought the car for an oil change and she asked the service advisor to check the car’s interior dome light as it didn’t seem to work anymore. They did the oil change and came back and told her to fix the dome light they would have to trace the wire through the headliner and yada yada yada, costing $200-$250 to fix. She declined and mentioned it to me the next time I was at her house. I removed the existing bulb, went to Auto Zone, bought one just like it, put the new one in, and surprise, surprise, surprise, the light worked again.

Thieving bastards tried to charge her $200 to replace a $3 light bulb.

Yep. Moved walls, water and drain lines. New tile in shower and floor. They set the 300lb tub as well. If I could have found a good tile guy, I would have subbed it our myself.

That should be a $3,500 job, at worst.

Yep. Usually safe to figure $250/cuyd for simple residential concrete work, then throw some money on top for any demo or haul off

French drain - $12k.

The other two bids were both around $2k.

ETA:

I actually called the guy and talk to him about it and very politely let him know that he was so far above market price and he was shocked to hear it. He was a nice, professional person.

$137 to replace the flapper in the toilet bowl. It was free inspection by my HVAC company. They try to get ignorant people to waste their money.
