OP, which cruise line?
Carnival(no shame)
Carnival is offering $200 onboard credit if you still plan to sail through 5/31

If things don't improve dramatically you'd have to be pretty fricking stupid to get on that ship.

This is what I suggest if you still want to sail.
Start taking your temperature twice a day the entire week before you sail...if you're running a fever they arent going to let you board in the first place. That doesnt mean take Tylenol so you don't have a high temp when you board but just be prepared. Don't be shocked at the pier to see a temp of 99.9 and denied access to the ship.
Stay alert to your ports of call and read any info you're going to be sent from the cruise line. Watch info sent from the US State Dept specifically concerning ports you may be visiting. Its possible some ships may not be allowed to dock in some ports so be ready for short notice itinerary changes.
What if you are on-board and someone in your group spikes a fever, can you and your family handle a quarantine to your cabin the entire time? I'd bring a few things extra just in case (maybe a game console, playing cards, reading material, laptop, etc).
I don't think right now is the time to make decisions on going or not BUT I do think this is a great time to start researching what your options are in case certain scenarios present themselves and you do decide to go (or caancel).

We don't drink. No need to splurge on the drink package.

You will catch the virus and die

I have one booked mid April. I'm still waiting, but it's not the cruise itself I'm worried about, it's the possibility of being stuck in your cabin for 2+ weeks like a prisoner if there is an issue.
I'm probably cancelling, but I am waiting till close to the cruise time to decide. We'll see how it goes. The ship we are going on, did cancel it's cruise for this week.

I'd go because I'm not 80yrs old or sickly and I'm not prone to Facebook fear. They are probably giving good amount of obc for you not to cancel. Cruises out of FLL doesn't have as much Walmart people as NOLA.

This is a case of the virus working for you.
Only people that will cancel are the buffet line clogging old people and their scooters.
Will be nothing but college age girls and MILFs.
It'll be perfect

Cruise ships are petri dishes for disease under normal circumstances. I'm sure you'll be fine during a pandemic though.

“If you are a healthy young person, there is no reason if you want to go on a cruise ship, go on a cruise ship.”
Seems irresponsible to say this since the risk is the healthy young person getting it and spreading it to those who are at severe risk of death if they catch it.
Healthy people who won't be affected by this can still basically kill the people he mentions here:
quote:
Yesterday, Fauci told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, “Elderly with underlying conditions, heart disease, chronic lung disease, diabetes (should) not wait, but right now, to sort of take look at things that are at high risk, crowded places, getting on airplanes, and absolutely don’t get on a cruise ship.”

LOL
you’re not sailing brah you’re a passenger on a floating hotel and buffet line. And no, regardless of whether the CDC or RC or whoever says it’s OK, there is no reason to take that risk at this time.
“Sailing”...
hoist the midden and lash the mast!

I'm sailing away
Set an open course for the Virgin Sea
'Cause I've got to be free
Free to face the life that's ahead of me
On board I'm the captain
So climb aboard
We'll search for tomorrow
On every shore and I'll try
Oh Lord I'll try
To carry on
I look to the sea
Reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever
So the story goes
But somehow we missed out
On that pot of gold
But we'll try best that we can
To carry on
A gathering of angels
Appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope
And this is what they said
They said, come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me (lads)
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away…

You mean the ones identified by every physician, organization, politician and Karen from Facebook being told to not travel?

Hold on let me go to my crystal ball...
It says..
Just cancel because cruises suck.

Wife and I are going in early May. Im putting one of those “ain’t skeered” stickers on my luggage.
ETA: I plan on being hammered for a large majority of the trip and will update the OT with my first hand observations of the crisis at sea.
