What happened to all of the business near campus?

I recently drove past the area. The entire shopping center near the wine and spirits gas station has gone out of business, except for Hungry Howie's. The location where Mellow Mushroom once was doesn't look any better. I'm wondering where the businesses have relocated to and why these areas are now deserted. They used to be popular spots.

I feel like there's a Mellow Mushroom on every college campus. First discovered them in Boone NC at App State. Not long after we got one at UK.

It’s a damn shame what’s happened, I hate government intervention but they shouldn’t allow section 8 housing near the freaking university like they are.

I think you are mistaken--the original Mike Anderson's was somewhere on Highland Road. Mellow Mushroom was at the corner of Burbank and E. Boyd.

I don’t get what you’re saying but the the lower dregs of society live not only north of campus, but also near tiger land like we already knew and now the last 5-10 years all up in those complexes on Ben Hur. It’s turning the area around LSU into shite

No. The original Mike Andersons was in the former College Town Grocery, a building that stood where the strip mall on Highland, with Drunken Fish, right outside the Gates near College Town now sits.
Interesting enough, that same strip mall is where the original TJ Ribs was located before moving to Acadian. Calendars then opened there and they had the big Touchdown drinks.
Mellow Mushroom was always on Burbank until it closed.

The Mellow mushroom by McNeese in Lake Charles is closing.
