Acid rain was real and regulations did stop it.

CFC’s were banned and the ozone layer began to regenerate. It’s not that hard

Countries banded together, enacted legislation and curbed it. Similar thing happened with the ozone hole.

People generally believed in science back then, though.

Low BTU low sulfur coal from Wyoming mixed with some petroleum coke to get the BTU up. Small foundries everywhere shutdown because maw and paw couldn't afford the new controls.

I did a HS paper on CFC's. Production of the polluting molecules, the ones that turn O3 into 02, have increased in the last 30 years.

Apparently hard enough to confuse you. It was fun reading how stupidly certain you were, though.

This. I haven't heard about this since the 90's

Nice internet research, but CFC's aren't the only pollutants that degrade ozone.

We're supposed to be in an ice age right now, according to the same hysteria factory, among many other false predictions.

Yeah... both were all rage growing up and then something sexier like global warming showed up and then when there were areas freezing the frick over with record cold temps the libs were smart enough to roll with the "climate change" narrative... It's actually genius. No matter what happens when the weather switches to cold, hot, rain or drought it's a flexible enough con to go anyway they like. Genius it is!

Main thing I remember was kid magazines pushing the lie that maple syrup would be gone permanently within 20 years due to acid rain decimating the maple tree up north.

IIRC, I read that story about 35 years ago and I can still get Aunt Jemima.

The reductions in sulfur and lead emissions helped to neutralize the threat of acid rain to most humans and animals. However, it still has a noticeable effect on plant life (especially surrounding coal power plants and in places like China and India with poor pollution controls), and it still has a very noticeable impact on concrete, stone, and marble architecture.

So, acid rain is still a thing, but thanks to decent environmental protection policies, it’s threat was mostly neutralized.

Inspired by Michael Stipe and REM, I did my 7th grade science project on acid rain. Oh, it was a great moment in the history of scientific discovery. I took one set of plants and sprayed them with distilled water every day. I took another set and sprayed them with straight vinegar. To nobody's surprise the plants sprayed with vinegar died. Conclusion: the whole planet is about to die! I got an A- because my teacher was a shitlib. Ha Ha. Then I instantly stopped caring and turned my attention to the more pressing concern of saving the princess on Zelda.

It was one of the many lies made up by environmentalist “non-profit” d-bags looking for funding. Not much has changed on that front. The lies continue and the donations and grants keep rolling in.

I remember in the 80’s acid rain was going to be the end of the world. If so, why the hell do I have to add acid to my pool after heavy rains to get the pH back down?

I know, subtle I have a pool brag.

Same thing that happened to LA Smog. They changed a lot of laws on pollution. It was actually pretty good.

Acid Rain and Smog were real and fixable.
