What does the OT think about “divorce parties”

A friend of mine is going through a divorce right now with his wife of 7 years. They got married at 19 right after he joined the military and they have had a rocky road to say the least. He just caught wind of his ex wife’s friends throwing her a “divorce party” down at the beach and he is pretty broken up about it. When did this become a thing and please tell me it is not normal.
