It was a company vehicle that hit me . Took pictures of the logo and everything just in case. Have had bad luck tracking down people in the past after accidents. Almost started faking a neck injury when the police showed up .

Passenger door does not open but maybe 1/4 of the way due to quarter panel being pushed into it and blocking movement. Other doors seem okay

Not a quarter panel in the front....fender. Likely just shifted metal and frame is ok. Fluid question is pertinent due to that. No green liquids? Likely bumper and any sensors, foam behind the bumper, mounting points, fenders and on the back structural? Pretty much the same thing? Just a beat up car? Being a 2017 Lexus, it probably won't total. All easily fixable parts

Got rear ended and pushed into another SUV. Hood crumpled, front quarter panels crumpled, can't open passenger door correctly, trunk smashed in, bumpers, etc..

That’s about a $34000 car. Yes it is totaled.

This is my son’s truck that was rear ended. Roughly same price as your car. Bed pushed into cab but all doors opened. It was totaled.

It’s not too late, lots of people don’t develop injuries until they speak with a lawyer

Don't fake an injury, but wouldn't you want to make sure that there is no damage that you'll be paying for down the line. You're sol after you release everybody and their momma.

Also, they're going to try [to frick you] on your dv claim. That 17c formula is some bullshite, and most insurers use a similar formula. 10% max is a joke for a lot of cars. The stealership is going to kill you when you go trade her in one day.

Lexis of NOLA?

Meh, it probably doesn't look that bad overall. Just initial reaction was that everything is f**ked. As I calm down about it, it's probably fixable. Can't figure out how to rotate picture. Little more damage on the opposite side compared to this view and trunk area is pretty damaged as well (took a bit of work to pry trunk open to get laptop, could not close, etc.). Probably not totaled I guess and probably an over-reaction on my part. When I couldn't open that door, and saw that left side deeper than I thought possible, I thought frame damage. But looking back at pics after starting thread, maybe not as bad as I recall. Still enough to suck having to deal with it.

Zooming in...there is some twist in the cab corner, so likely frame damage, new bedsides, tailgate, who knows what got jacked in the rearend, is that a pearl paint or white? The adjuster includes that to and a 4 stage paint adds huge costs. He just needs to get an estimate and see

Yeah doing that to a truck takes some force. I was hit twice in two different Silverados that I owned previously. Neither had much damage other than trailer hitch. To make that happen, is going to mess with the integrity of the frame.

But this does bring up a new point. I do have the extra charge "pearl white" paint job. Meh, in any case, I should get repaired back to where it was I guess. Maybe even get rid of some of the rock chips in the front bumper.....got to see the positive side.

My Lexus didn't look much worse than that as far as body damage. Like I said it was the damage to the front steering and the fact the radiator was pushed into the engine that tipped the scales. None of my airbags went off amazingly. Geico totaled it and it was less than 3 years old.

Let your insurance give you an estimate and go from there. When it gets to the shop, they will find extra because they take off parts. Supplemental body shop estimates are 100% guaranteed from an adjuster's estimate. It's usually small stuff, but body shops are, in my opinion, just behind the Morris Barts... crooked.

I've had to get an attorney in the past for being hit by a car and spending a night in the hospital. This is not getting to that point unless they just flat out don't fix my car. It isn't worth my time. Lawsuits are the scummiest, most drawn out BS ever. I make too much money to waste my time dealing with that. Not trying to be OT hardass, but it is what it is. 50k and 2 years of my time chasing bullshite with the weight of that morality on my shoulders just isn't worth it. I went in to school pre-law. Don't see how people do PI after my one experience.

Financially it is always better to repair. For many vehicles you'd have to blow an engine every 4 years to cost as much as a new vehicle

I pay people everyday for complete bull shite injuries. It’s the nature of the business in Louisiana. IN the event the insurance defense would actually have knowledge that he is posting on an anonymous message board ( which is pratctically zero) it would have little effect as to the value of an injury claims

I did too at one point....a 2yr old girl was "hurted", what I was told, from a bump in a McDonald's drive through. I even asked her why she didn't care about her child and let her run rampant in the car and I was going to let the officer know.l that she didn't restrain her child properly....somehow...still paid.... frick La insurance......

How did you pay 700 for a car still under warranty? I haven't come out of pocket yet for my RC350F.

In Louisiana you can also file a claim for “diminished value” against the at-fault driver’s insurance. Basically its for the loss of value on the vehicle because when you go to sell it or trade in, the car isnt worth as much due to Carfax showing an expensive wreck on file.

Learned this the hard way after being rear ended and having around $8000 in damage repaired on a truck still worth around $25,000 at the time. When I eventually went to trade it in, the trade in offers were about 25-30% lower than I was expecting and multiple dealers told me it was due to the wreck and severity showing on Carfax.

Frame damage w/ airbag deployment will typically total most any car. As a car guy having spent 27 years in the industry FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT. If it was not your fault, you have the most to lose.
Regarding REPAIRED BAD Carfax trade values- typically they are 20% or more less than Clean Carfax cars.

Who's warranty cover's maintenance? Warranty doesn't have anything to do with that. I've gotten some deals that cover maintenance for XXXX amount of miles and did for the first 15k of this vehicle. I'm at 30k which I will admit should not be 700, but it was filters, fluid swaps (brakes etc.), oil change, and a bit more. Certainly not worth 700 bucks. I admit that. But I've been bringing my cars to dealerships since I switched from your typical Chevy just to cover my arse and I've literally not had a single issue (VW, Infiniti, Lexus), so it's hard to find a random shop to keep that peace of mind. That includes loaner vehicle and whatever cookies and donuts I could fit in my mouth too
