Hard to tell. Where else would the slave labor come from if not africa? I definitely think slave traders are not able to move the same amount of volume of people into the south

I think we became great in spite of slavery. It’s effects are an ignominious legacy of greed.
I disagree. I can’t think of any world power that has risen without exploiting someone else to some degree, either through enslavement, forcefully extracting resources from other people, or installing a repressive totalitarian regime over it’s own people. The US is no different.
While slavery wasn’t the only thing driving the economy, you can’t discount its effect on US growth. The Antebellum US was like the China of today, producing the majority of the worlds cotton. That doesn’t happen without free labor.
Lots of wealth was created during that period. What if there was less of it to drive the expansion of railroads, steel manufacturing, the roaring 20s? Would we have been strong enough during the 1940s to fight and win WWII?
Imagine for a sec what the world would like right now if everyone in, say, the health care sector worked for free. That’s how different things would have looked in the Antebellum south with no slaves.

But there’s no reason it had to be African slaves, is there? Why not Chinese or Irish or Slavs?

Are you comparing health care with agricultural work?
