And what causes you to think that way?
Personal experience or media?

Thankless, overworked, underpaid job filled with mostly good guys and a few bad apples.

My best friend is a former Miss. State Trooper. His own words are "frick the police"
I feel sorry for some of the officers, but the way government uses them is a travesty.

The bad apples can spoil the whole bunch. Also, watch the series of Making a Murderer

Generally good guys just trying to make a living. I'm not a SJW or a pea brain who reads the news headlines about the few bad cop incidents who feels the need to treat them all like scum.
I got four tickets from age 15 to 18. Nothing bad about any experiences there as I was just breaking the law. I've been pulled over once in the last 20 years and he was a professional black trooper who let me go after he realized I was drinking rootbeer and not beer.

There's a reason Gretna and Kenner are two of the safest cities in the state despite being surrounded by one of the most dangerous cities in the country.

Mostly hot-headed, small minded, wannabe thugs

Police are fine when they do the job that police work was created for, namely the protection of property so everyone else can go about their lives.
They suck when it is to raise revenue, intimidate citizens and interfere with your quiet enjoyment of life that harms no one.

Cops should be forced to retire after 10 years. A lot get comfortable being above the law and using other connections to get away with crimes that they would gladly arrest others for.
They're humans and humans are flawed.

And Let them make 40% more than the minimum at whatever job they choose for their service. DGAF.
