Throwing money at shitty concrete. Like a giant game of dice.

Probably playing the long con. He has the funds to ride it out being undesirable then when the city puts up the money and tax credits to improve it for investment he sells and profits.

I was born and raised in Shreveport. Grew up a couple blocks over from Woodlawn High School just across Linwood Ave from Cedar Grove. After high school I lived in Southern Hills area until my kids were old enough to start elementary school. At that point we packed up and moved across the river to Bossier City where I still live now. I work in a business to business service industry that covers the full spectrum of types of businesses in our area. Everything from restaurants, C Stores, Casinos, Oil and Gas, manufacturing, and government.
I say this to point out that few on this board other than me can speak to what has gone on and needs to go on in the future for Sport-Bossier to get better.
There is absolutely no reason why Shreveport should not be a booming metropolis right now. We have I20 and I49 corridor coming right thru town. We have an accessible river port. We have a national rail system. We have ample space for manufacturing to build facilities. We have a large population center. We have beautiful scenic outdoor areas such as Caddo Lake, Lake Bisteneau, Bodacau.
I am glad 50 is investing in the area. Unfortunately I think he will eventually move on just as everyone else who has ever invested in this area has.

Look at the Red River District and it's history.
It was fantastic for a while and then... the urban youth began hanging out down there. They didn't patronize the businesses, they didn't spend any money. They just stood around and glared at people coming and going. Then the fights started, then the occasional shooting, then people stopped coming.
The business owners tried to enforce a curfew, they tried to enforce a dress code, they tried to charge an admission fee. The business owners were labeled RACIST! People stopped coming. The area died. The city "took it over" but that was because it was failing.
Then the same youths went across the river to the riverfront mall. It is now dead or almost dead from what I hear.
This same story has played out 100 times across the country. It's happening to the Mall of LA right now. Until the people patronizing businesses and spending money feel safe from the predators it will happen.
I wish the best for him and his investment but I see the same story playing out.

It's a snippet from articles that came out in the last few days. Here's a local business article link though that I'm sure no one will click on because links after the first post are ignored.

Because Shreveport is desperate. It is seeking a miracle and it has no leadership.
Fiddy Cent will have to do until this hustle runs its course.
In meantime, the Mayor, council and all the local press is "all in"..

No one else is doing a damn thing for this city, so I say let him try. The festival went off without any major incidents (to my surprise) because 50 spent a shitload of money in security. As someone who has my office in Shreveport and lives outside the city, I appreciate that he is investing here. I hope he is successful.
