I’m trying to pack less than I usually do. I have a small north face backpack. Leaving headphones behind this time. Meds go in, possibly a hoodie. Experienced OT travelers, how do you do it?

i bring enough clothes for about 3 days and at least one dress shirt that i stuff in there knowing there will be an iron in any hotel i stay in so i can look decent. if i stay longer than 3 days i'll find a washer somewhere & do a quick round of laundry rather than piling more clothes in.

flip flops in case i have to walk on nasty hotel carpet and a small shower kit.

I can go 2 weeks with a carryon. You need toothpaste/toothbrush, underwear if you wear them, shoes and a razor. I went to India for 2+ weeks and had a carryon. You will find downsizing is actually freeing.

You're going to raw dog a flight without headphones?

ETA: I almost always just bring a carryon and personal item (backpack). So, anything that I would need for probably up to a week

Toothbrush/toothpaste, travel size body wash/shampoo , 2 changes of socks & underwear. 2 days of medication (in the past, I no longer take any) earbuds, power bank, charging cable(s). One set of gym clothes (can also use as pajamas), a couple extra shirts, and flip flops (see post above)

I use a standard 22" rollaboard and then a bag small enough to fit under the seat in front of me (usually my laptop backpack). If it's a warm destination I can pack a weeks' worth of clothes and my toiletries into the rollaboard, allowing me to avoid having to wait on my bags to be unloaded at my destination.

The tricks are smart space management and to not think you need clothes to cover every possible unexpected occasion. Only the Howell's can pack enough to cover that.

Boarding a flight as we speak. Tiny bag that fits under the seat with three pairs of drawers, shorts, t shirts, toiletry kit. First time doing basic economy and zero issues with this for a quick weekend trip

I see what you did there, but false. I recently got stopped by TSA in Nola after spending the weekend in Nola. Left a fully loaded mag of hollow points in my book bag because on an ordinary day, I don’t carry two mags and I did when I was in Nola. They took my mags and ammo and let me through. She told me to pack it in my suitcase next time. That didn’t work out so great for a few locals baws recently.

Delta at least gives you a free full sized carry on with basic economy, I'll probably book these tickets more often. United, American and JetBlue have the no carry on with the basic economy but if you don't have much then it can still work. I don't see this working well with winter clothes/bulky items

The 115 degree heat just melds with everything. It's hot, but it isn't HOT.

We generally try to pack our entire trip in a carry-on plus a backpack.
