If you watch the shows, you know that it is impossible to reason with these people.

I just spent several days with one, and what I saw scared me.

When the apocalypse comes you'll be thankful for their supply of rubber bands and twist ties.

First, make sure they have good insurance
Second, in inconspicuous way (and during July 4th) set fire while no one is at home.
Third, watch your problems literally go up in smoke....

My aunt is one. We had a family reunion at her house and they would not let us go upstairs. My cousin's husband went upstairs to use the bathroom and my uncle got really mad at him. So I snuck upstairs when I got the chance and it was just tons and tons of junk covering all of the upstairs area.

Would you like to be on a tv show called hoarder? Because I feel as though you’re a good candidate.

Have an intervention.

If that doesn’t work, just try a little hoarder.

that's bc you're predictably dumb. I'm not a hoarder but you jumped to that conclusion. It's still none of your business. Why dont you busy bodies get a life of your own and stop worrying about everyone else?

I’ll never understand this mentality. My parents taught us from an early age about donating to those less fortunate and what we considered junk after a while, someone in need could use. Why just let it pile up? My kids donate every year before their birthdays and Christmas. I don’t understand the value in hoarding. OT psychs need to explain.

Laugh at them and hide any narcotics you may need hidden at their place

I have a family member who collects random junk and has multiple storage units filled not including what is around his house. There is no changing his behavior so we just never go over there. We’ve tried to help a little but he’s the type to be digging in the other side of the dumpster while you’re putting things in the other side. He’s the only person I know that comes home from the dump with more than he left with.

My mom is a hoarder but she’s a clean, organized one. So it’s not really a problem we need to address, I guess

She has a house full of totes, a couple storage units, and a building in my stepdad’s hometown

I dread having to go through it when she dies

First go pick out the shite you may want. They may have something worth something.

Second, oh look a fire has started. How'd that happen?

Some friends of ours we met through our kids school told us about their neighbor who is an old widow. Over the years she filled up every room and nook and cranny in her house to the point she couldn’t get around inside. The house across the street came up for sale and she bought it and proceeded to fill it up too.
