I'm a commercial assistant superintendent.

Picture that you are given 10 puzzles, each one has to be successfully finished before the other starts. Instead of putting it together your self, you get 10 teenagers to do it for you.

In exchange you compensate their parents (i.e. they receive no money directly, but do get the fringe benefits of their parents making money)

Now multiply the number of puzzles and number of teens putting them together for you by between 15 and 30 times. Oh, and only 30% speak the same language as you.

That's what my job is.

One giant babysitting service.

I'm in sales. If you're truly a people person, go into sales. I work from home, no real paperwork or mundane BS, my manager is in Houston, and I make well into the 6 figures.

Yes, I have up and down years, but even on the lighter years I'm still over 125k.

This is a pretty timely thread, because I'm on the verge of making the same decision. I'm not overly concerned about money, but my current career path is not pushing the right buttons.

I'm enrolled in night classes for spring 2018 to start brushing up on med/dental prereqs. I have a humongous financial head start in life, so I could do med/dental school without incurring any debt. It's still tough to make myself go the route so extremely less traveled.

Will circle back to read responses when sober on Sunday morning

I own a pest control company and started w zero customers. That was ten years ago. I have not regretted a single day since.

I'm probably unhireable now, because I'm so used to doing things my own way. I would lose my shite if I had a boss I had to answer to every day.

subtle brag

If you're that far ahead, you're already doing something right. Regardless, that's a good spot to be. I wish I could say the same.

I'm not sitting on $25MM. I did have a nice head-start both with financial knowledge and assistance, and I've made good money the first 3.5 years of my career.

ETA: I echo the earlier sentiment that if you're already wishy-washy on med school, I'd move on to other alternatives. Have you shadowed anyone?
