Teens in New Orleans seem to do a lot of car jackings.

My 14 year old plays video games and Group FaceTime’s with her friends from school. Last night they actually went to dinner and hung out in person.

I don’t know if it was around when you were growing up, but Forest Park was a BIG thing on Sundays back when I was a teenager. People would park around the circle, and hang out most of the day throwing the frisbee, football, or whatever, and admittedly a lot of partaking, but it was pretty normal to see at least a hundred or more people there on any given Sunday. If you didn’t park and hang out, you surely had to drive through a few times to see if you knew anyone.

In their defense, kids now also grew up after zero tolerance/the war on drugs. You know what'll help make you an introvert? Hanging out somewhere in public, minding your own business, and having a cop roll up wanting to know what the frick you're doing.

The Forest Park of the 1970's transported to the 90's would have resulted in years in jail for a bunch of kids, for weed alone.

KIDS TODAY ARE BOTH TOTALLY UNLIKE AND INFINITELY WORSE THAN KIDS OF MY DAY was pretty much one of the first things written on cave walls Mike

You have me wrong. Kids are still kids, but what’s changed is that they don’t socialize even remotely as much as we did, pre Covid or post Covid. I say that for no other reason than simply they aren’t out in force like we were getting together. I think that makes people weird, and awkward in social settings. HELL, it’s making us all weird, and that’s why I think Covid is so awful. The numbers don’t scare me in the slightest. What scares me is what it’s doing to people. Humans are social creatures... It is in our DNA, and when denied that, people get weird. You see it in their eyes as you pass them in the grocery store, donning masks and living in isolated fear. This shite isnt normal, and neither is it to sit in your house all day and expecting to not be affected by it.

I am an extremely social person, and I can tell the toll this lock down shite has had on me personally. I can only imagine how I would have been shaped as a person if all I did was stay inside and text people and play video games all day. I simply would not be the same person.

It's go to a different house every weekend or so. Sometimes they asked to be brought to the mall. A couple of weeks ago it was Skate Country. But the crowd isn't the same.

They don't have arcades, teen clubs, fun factory, go carts or really anything of entertainment value.

I know what you mean. Same for sports. Stadiums are near empty these days. I don’t get it. Why aren’t people going out and doing things?

It’s not New Roads. And it may not be as bad as you think when Covid isn’t around.

Just 20 years ago....we worked reasonably hard to be under the radar of any real adult when we wanted to party or have fun on Fridays or Saturdays. Kids are likely doing the same today.
