You should have at least googled if you didn't know before replying

That shift work does provide a very good quality of life for plenty of people who otherwise wouldn't make nearly what they do. Once they put the time in and later on get to pick their days it pays off.
There happen to be a lot of shitty people doing it, but there's a lot of good people making a good life for their family's there too.

Serious question though...
Why do so many operators make their kids play travel ball? Are they thinking that their superior genetics will pay off and yield some major leaguers? Kind of why I assumed they loved flatbill hats so much. It’s really to help with fielding the ball.
I guess you can say I’m kind of jealous. They really do have it all, truck nutz & balls,

That's mostly contractor trash that does travel ball. Operators dont see their kids half the weekends.

Shitty people in every line of work. Would never down someone for doing what it takes to take care of his family. I did shift work for awhile not plants though. Was lucky enough to find something different making good money with great hours.

I think you’re right.

Also, truck nutz for operators is laughable. HR would cut that shite out quick. No way it is allowed in the company parking lot.

I can't help. We don't have any plants in Lafayette. That's a lake Charles/Baton Rouge thing

have two brothers that are operators. both make mid 70's

What they make will vary greatly. Depends on the company and the type of business they do at the said facility. I know some "operators" that make 18-20 an hour and I know some that make 40+ an hour.
