I dunno why the movie made him all caring and sensitive.
Because listening to Jackson Browne to a mentally challenged racist that is banging a junky on the reg just isn't as appealing. If you're going to play some Fleetwood Mac in the background, it'd better be to the story of America's favorite friend-zoned cross country running ping pong champion.

I majored in Turfgrass Management at LSU..I don't have a trust fund.
Masters week is free labor. I did the Memorial Tournament, was there at 230am, until 11pm for 8 straight days..I almost kicked Adam Scott and Bubba Watson's arse.

You think that the movie "Forrest Gump" could have been "way better".

In the book he flunk out of of Alabama, after 1 semester
That's actually a hell of a lot more than most Bama fans can claim.

Let me put it another way: I was piss poor in my science courses and wouldn't have had the money without a trust fund to make it through a turfgrass management program in 4 years with the amount of time that would be required to take and retake basic chemistry and biology courses, let alone the more advanced entomology and horticulture courses.
That being said, it looked like and still looks like a cool major. I can keep a fertilization schedule and mow but that's about it.

If it followed the book more closely it would have been.
He was an astronaut in the book, he crash landed in the jungle and fricked around with cannibals.
I'd have much rather seen that than him wheel around Lt Dan.

but people used to call and ask what years he was there.
If I had to beat on it, I bet some of those people were dead serious. It doesn't seem to be as common of a thing, but it seems like there was a time (at least when I was younger) that there were people who truly believed if they saw something on TV it was true (something as in movies, shows, etc).

quote:Yup. He is a horrible person in the book. Nothing like what the movie portrays.
Go read the book.

The novel character is the epitome of what most of the OT posters wish to be in life.
