That Doctor disappearing (kinda hot). Some reported her going into the building to help. Others dont believe she ever headed to the 9/11 site. Some video footage shows her shopping with an unknown woman. She was never seen or heard from again.

In October 2001, Poundstone was charged with felony child endangerment in connection with driving while intoxicated with her children in the car. She was also charged with three counts of lewd acts upon a girl younger than 14. The charge involved inappropriate touching of a 12-year-old girl.

Probably explains why 9/11 was a picture perfect day on the East Coast. Erin sucked all the moisture out to see and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
just like George W Bush drew it up.

Band of Brothers was released September 9, two days before 9/11.
I was in England in November 2001. It was crazy traveling that close to 9/11, and watching BOB was really powerful in that context.

It was actually pretty much concurrent.
The news of the scandal hit in October and bankruptcy was filed December 2. 2.5 months apart is not pretty much concurrent.

I can’t tell you if her murderer was ever caught.
They weren't...
I kid, I kid. They technically didn't convict anyone, but Ingmar Guandique (a 20-year-old undocumented immigrant from El Salvador) likely did it and he admitted it to a jailhouse informant and they didn't believe it was him even though he attacked two other women in the same park at the same time. They tried to pin it on Gary Condit before realizing Guandique did do it.

Guandique allegedly had attacked and tied up Levy in a remote area of the park and left her to die of dehydration or exposure
Real fricked up way to go. He clearly did it. Tons of evidence against him but the prosecution and cops really messed it up.
Instead of putting him on trial, they just deported him to El Salvador. Can't imagine what her family feels.

It wasn’t 2001, but was listening to Dr Heiser podcast yesterday where he lays out a pretty compelling case that the birth of Jesus was on Sept 11 of 3 BC.

Building 7 collapsing for no reason at all
This post, with that many upvotes, is why we are fricked as a society.
youve read the official story about building 7 and thought it was legit without a reasonable doubt? and you think everyone else is dumb?

The greatest tragedy on American soil up until that point had occurred only seven months prior...losing Dale Earnhardt Sr.
I've lived in Charlotte for almost all of my adult life... The days after Dale died, the local sports radio AND news talk radio was nothing but people calling in and crying. It was nuts... like Jordan dying in the 4th Q of game 7.
I loved NASCAR back then. People were calling me like one of my parents died...
Never could get back into NASCAR after that. Now I can't even stomach watching one lap.

The McDonalds/Monopoly game was outed as corrupt and fixed.
I remember there was some type of big lawsuit or something like that. It was settled on Sept 10, 2001. Couldn't think of what it was until I saw this post.

I was in 2nd/3rd grade. Was a solid year for me otherwise.

I know this board is full of "coulda been me"
I have been to that Century 21 with my ex wife in March 2006.
We visited Ground Zero(it was under heavy construction still at the time). Then walked down to the Century 21 where she got a bunch of cheap clothes.

Sneha and her husband, Dr. Ron Lieberman, lived in Battery Park City, less than half a mile from the Twin Towers, which they passed on a daily basis. Neither of them worked at the World Trade Center, but in some of her final text messages, she told her mother she wanted to try Windows on the World, a restaurant atop Tower One.
She was last seen at a nearby Century 21 store the evening of Sept. 10, where she bought an outfit, shoes and bedsheets, New York Magazine reported in 2006.

I'm obsessed with this story, fascinating. The Missing on 9/11 podcast summarizes it well.

March 2001 - McLean publishes "Is Enron Overpriced" in Fortune, addressing the fact that no one could really explain how Enron made money
April 2001 - Skilling calls a Wall Street analyst an a-hole on a conference call after being questioned regarding some accounting practices which drew major attention to the stability and health of the company
August 14th, 2001 - Skilling inexplicably resigns after only 6 months as CEO
August 15th, 2001 - Sherron Watkins sends Ken Lay an internal message stating among other things, "I am incredibly nervous that we will implode in a wave of accounting scandals"
September 9th, 2001 - New York Times publishes a pretty scathing article criticizing Enron, "MARKET WATCH; A Self-Inflicted Wound Aggravates Angst Over Enron" - first line: "something is rotten in the state of Enron"
September 11th, 2001 - WTC attacked and Enron immediately drops off the front page, and probably entirely out of the news temporarily
October 2001 - Enron acknowledges that they have to go back and correct several years worth of earnings statements due to accounting errors, Fastow comes clean, Fastow gets fired, and the bottom falls out.
so yeah if you want to get super specific, the actual bankruptcy wasnt until later, but if it hadnt been for 9/11, the news microscope on Enron would have been ENORMOUS that September. there is even audio (maybe even video) of Ken Lay speaking to the company saying something along the lines of "just like this country is under attack, this company is under attack" right around 9/11.
the Enron story was absolutely overshadowed by 9/11. probably the biggest story fitting this thread's topic.

That the Israelis knew about the attacks two weeks in advance of them.
Go look up Alex jones giving the entire play by play on July 25th,2001. Even said they'd blame it in Bin Laden who was a known CIA accomplice.
