When I was a kid at school, I always had to drink from the water fountain in multiples of 8(# of gulps). If I was more thirty than 8 gulps it had to be 16, kind of irritated people behind me. I don't know when I stopped, but I know I don't do it anymore. Come to think of it, I did a lot of things in multiples of 8. I was kind of obsessed with that number.

I check the stove and oven 3 or 4 times before I leave the house, even if I haven't used them in days. When I was a kid, we left a stove on for an entire day (we weren't home). Nothing happened, but my dad drilled in my head to always check before I leave the house.

When my mom would go out of town when I was a kid, my dad would drive me insane with this shite. Going to be would take 30 minutes. Every door checked multiple times before he calls me over to stand in front of the oven and proceeds to go "off, off, off, off...ok you check" like 5 times.
Thankfully not much passed on to me. I still do a "locked, locked, locked" shake of the door when leaving, otherwise I end up putting the car in park on the driveway and getting out to go check it again
