I live out the country and really don't want to go back. I know since 2010 the number of Americans giving up their citizenship has been growing each year. Anyone know someone who has secured citizenship somewhere else and if so where?

If you can prove an ancestor was an Italian citizen and never denounced their citizenship before a certain date, I want to say ~1920, you're entitled to Italian citizenship.

What is your ancestory? Some European countries will grant citizenship to people third or fourth generation removed. Sicily, Bosnia, Macedonia, Poland and maybe Portugal have things where you can get dilapidated properties and fix them up and as you restore them they grant you a visa, and then after you have done the restoration and paid the taxes on the building you can get resident alien status.
Countries with fledgeling populations are the easiest to get citizenship to. In Sicily they have a town selling houses for one Euro. (but they need 50-100k Euro to get livable).
Third world countries you can just go to and stay, as long as you are productive, you would be fine. There is fully developed nation that really has an easy and welcoming citizenship program, but if you can gain work, you can get a Visa almost anywhere.

Are you referring to Sicily as a country?

I don't hate America. I hate the fact that they screw over people with US citizenship living outside the country. SOcial security isn't a great selling point for keeping a blue passport

Yea, because the acceptance of your passport in other countries isn't important.

Sorry I'm not sure what point you're making. I personally don't think it is fair that I have to contribute heavily to my county of origin when I no longer live there and in the end I won't benefit from it.

It's as if I'm still paying all my ex landlords for houses I no longer occupy.

ETA I specialize in running international operations.

Macedonia. They grant citizenship for foreign investors who create businesses there and hire locals in as little as 6 to 12 months.

So why are you complaining? That's a hell of a deal. When I was an expat I just had 19% hypo tax and considered that to be a deal. I'd have paid way more than 19%.
