What can you do when caught in a road rage situation?

What if the above scenario happens while you're unarmed with wife and baby in the car. You're boxed in by traffic/curb/median on all sides (including his car in front of you). He's now exited his vehicle and is approaching your window. What do you do?

Show him your gun and make eye contact.
If he goes for his, he is out of his car and is the aggressor. If so, kill him.

IMO, never get out of the car
Let him kick your fender and cuss while your wife calls 911.
Obviously if he's somehow going to be a threat to your family from outside, you may have to disregard, but the chances of deescalation are almost certainly higher by staying in the car with your family.

It's a judgment call, and I don't blame you. Of course, if you get out and get stabbed by some nut you haven't really done your family any favor.
I think my personal thought process would be whether I genuinely fear for my wife/kid or whether I'm prideful and want to teach some douche a lesson. Which also happens to align fairly well with legal standards you may confront if shite spirals.
