Skid plates for catalytic converter protection. They've been out for a while.

They are cutting through muffler pipe what makes you think they can’t cut through that sheet metal??? Is it magical. I hope they laugh as they steal your shite.

Start a recreational sniper league, then randomly place citizen snipers around the city. If they see night orcs running up in their hoodies, as soon as they touch a car door handle, break a window, or go under the car... Boom, pow, see ya.

Know how I know you have no idea how to cut a skid plate that is attached to the frame while lying on your back with a mini sawzall?

Why don’t manufacturers put protective skid plates on at the factory or up close to the manifold so they’re not so accessible .

I know some manufacturers who have done this to help out. Ie. Toyota trucks has moved the cat up close to the headers and new models making it much harder to steal it.

The real solution for every vehicle is to find and arrest the scrapers who pay for them. If there is no money in it they won't get stolen.

When did they do this? Easy access is why Tundras have them stolen so frequently.

GM has had the cats up next to the manifolds for years as they light off faster. Not as a theft deterrent.

Stash an air tag on it somehow, find the dirtbags buying them.

Make the penalty for buying or being in the possession of a stolen cat so harsh that the demand dries up.

How will metal recyclers buying converters determine if a converter is stolen? For every stolen converter sold to recyclers there are thousands that are removed from wrecked cars and legitimately sold.

Seems like they should just make it illegal for scrappers to buy them, or make it much more difficult to where they can't just buy them from any individual without having validation as to where the converters came from. It is pretty obvious if a crackhead looking mofo pops in with a few random cats. Anyone that has more than one would essentially be from a muffler shop or some business.

Many metal recyclers will not buy individual converters, some have a minimum like 50,or 100, but this has created middle men that buy up individual converters, and when they have the quantity needed sell them to recyclers.

How can he go unnoticed in a mall parking lot? People just ignoring it and not wanting to get involved?

I'm not sure when and to what trucks they have done.

I knew Tundras and Tacomas were targeted a lot so I started researching. I found out my 2016 Third gen Tacoma didn't need an aftermarket solution because Toyota had moved it up to the manifold when they did they redesign of the Tacoma.

I know when my brothers Honda had his stolen it took the dude 30 to 45 seconds total. The theft was caught on surveillance. It was a team of two. One looked out they other jumped under with a Sawzall and because of ground clearance they didnt need a jack. Jumped under cut the exhaust pipe in two places and was gone.
