What can be done to improve Louisiana Education

Here are a few of my thoughts
1. Pay teachers better
2. Require a degree in the field they wish to teach
3. Remove student score from SLT
4. Observe more from School, district, and state level
5. Remove some of the frivolous positions created by school boards
6. Make teachers work 200 days a year with more training days
7. Require teachers to show growth in the classroom from the previous year
8. Allow teachers to achieve perfect scores if earned
9. Make curriculum statewide instead of Parish to Parish
10. Allow students who have not achieved passing scores to enter a technical college training in 10th grade.
Now none of these will drastically change Louisiana education but I feel that over time these will improve the education level of Louisiana along with providing us with more blue-collar workers.

If you get held back you get on the trade school trajectory, end of story, problem solved.

I say do what the private sector does...
Reward teachers based on their performance and results.
You teach better, you get a bigger bonus.

Nothing. Economy one dimensional. Demographics are fatal. Unless you can make money in the Medicare economy, move.

Leave it up to the school board. No standards to hit... there's where they get in trouble.
It's the same concept as the private sector.
You may have a shitty division that is unprofitable because of external circumstances, but a kickass leader who kept it from going under.
That leader would still get a nice bonus even if his division wasn't as profitable compared to another.

Don’t put more on the teachers.
Put it on the parents.
Put it on the parents.

They always think throwing money at it is the answer. The real answer is demographics and socioeconomic issues.

I feel sorry for these inner city teachers, there is no hope for these kids.

I believe then instead of that the Parish, State, and School should do random walk-throughs, if the teacher is good then they will score accordingly....
a big issue is in the school board/state area many of those people have never stepped in a classroom so have no idea what it is really like

If you concede this, then why would paying teachers more help improve education?
