I searched, but can't find any info more recent than Wayne Higgins bonding out of jail.

So he got away with murder. Interesting. Surprised that the authorities can get away with not going to trial.

He had or has a distinctive truck. Pretty sure I saw it driving in Metairie about 2 months ago.

But they are trying to prosecute someone for shooting a person that was trying to break in his home after the guy died 7 years later and more arrests after the incident. Makes sense.

What was the back story ?
Feuding neighbors, one sprayed the other with a water hose and got bullets in exchange ?

Friend,
I would disagree with saying it is not Old Metairie. Of course, people south of I-10 in Old Metairie disagree, but their rationale is a self interested one, i.e., make their neighborhood more exclusive in perception, thus more valuable.
It is not an argument based in history, as many of those homes on Bonnabel and eastward were built decades before I-10 was built. A person living in the 600th block of Bonnabel would have every right to call themselves Old Metairie because it is the oldest part of Euro inhabited Metairie. The architecture, social class, shopping habits, church membership, and geography of the original inhabitants of that area just north of the later imposed I-10 are quite consistent with those who lived in Hog Alley.
Although Bucktown is its own entity with its own culture, there is an argument that even Bucktown should fit under the Old Metairie label. But the argument that south of Vets and east of Bonnabel is not Old Metairie is absurd and without any good historical reasoning.
Yours,
TulaneLSU
