The concept is that if you don't acknowledge their tantrums with positive or negative reinforcement, then the child learns that they cannot throw tantrums to get attention. The idea is wrapped around this concept that disciplining kids when they throw tantrums teaches them to associate voicing their concerns with being punished while those who give their children positive attention when they throw tantrums are only rewarding that behavior.

On face value, it makes sense, but in a public place, it creates a massive nuisance.

Parents who let their kids cause a scene in public for longer than a minute are trashy.

Your choice to have one. I should not be forced to live with the consequences of your decisions or your inability to keep your child in line.

I understand children will throw fits. However if you are in a public place and you allow it to continue with zero consideration for others, then you are in fact, the shite head.

No one gives a shite about your whiny child but you. So if you can't keep them quiet for prolonged periods of time in restaurants, movie theaters, etc... keep them home or take them outside.

I'll bring a dog out with me next time. When he starts barking uncontrollably and being agitated at everyone, I'll just ignore it and tell everyone to deal with it.

I'm okay with crying toddlers or children getting upset. But when you as a parent intentionally ignore it and it is upsetting everyone else in the restaurant, you deserve the criticism.
