Great idea. I don't think people realize how difficult teaching has become.

My son already does it. I like it. I took a PTO yesterday for 2 reasons. 1) get a 4 day weekend 2) cause he was off of school as well and gave extra time

Most of the country has gone to work from home or hybrid so the younger generation only ends up working about 10 hours a week.

Kids are out of school far too much anyways.

1) School should be a year round thing with week long breaks after each semester or something like that. They aren't picking crops so why do we need them sitting at home lethargic for several months each summer forgetting everything they learned the year before.

2) Id be fine with extending the school hours later in the day BUT the extra time has to be used for things like recess, extending lunch periods, and social time. Which is just as much a part of learning as what you get from the classroom. And just tacking on more classroom hours each day does nothing for already tired minds who haven't had any opportunities during the day to take a break

North Caddo High School is the only school in district that has switched to a four-day week.

When you were in high school your parents didn’t leave you home by yourself?

It's the only way this could work.

You want the entire country trying to go on vacation during the same week?

school isn't a babysitter

School is a babysitter, it’s just a fact. Sure it’s not the main purpose, but it’s absolutely a purpose now with most families needing to be dual income

There are millions of households with parents working 5 days a week. If schools went to 4 days, what are they supposed to do with their kid on the 5th? Are we gonna subsidize all these families $200 a month per child to pay for childcare on Fridays?
