Why is it so hard to not point a gun at someone?

quote:

Two 26-year-old friends were hanging out and playing video games at a home in Palm Harbor when one shot the other while showing him what he thought was an unloaded gun.
quote:

Harkins went to retrieve a Colt M4 rifle he had been customizing prior to Cook’s arrival. Harkins reportedly told detectives he returned to his bedroom and pointed the rifle at Cook as a joke, which is when Cook responded, “What, are you going to shoot me?” Deputies said Harkins admitted to pulling the trigger on what he thought was an unloaded weapon.
quote:

the gun had a bullet in the chamber and struck Cook in the chest.

Smoking something, that seems pretty evident.

This is never a joke. Anyone who points a gun at someone as a joke deserves to be slammed in the face multiple times with said gun.

Definitely not alcohol involved, because only good choices occur after drinking

Never put your finger on the trigger unless you are ready to shoot.

And never point a gun at someone, unless you are going to shoot.

It's really not that complicated. Or hard.

Moving to this thread due to duplicate OP:

Really sad. Two individual lives and families ruined for a lack of simple gun safety and common sense. Tragic event. God be with the two of them and their families.

I could take a gun apart to verify that there was no bullet anywhere near the gun, put it back together, dry fire it 5 times and my brain still wouldn't allow me to point it at someone and pull the trigger.

Same here. Finger doesn't go to the trigger until I'm ready to shoot.
