I think you're talking about the ones across from Lakeside. Those have been there a while. I think OP is talking about ones a little further down Burbank

those are the sheds at the back of those massive lots of houses. Probably use them to house the maintenance equipment for those properties.

correct

Not correct. Yea those 2 to 3 million dollar homes are going to put up those eyesores on their property to house equipment

Those aren't maintenance sheds.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A group of “tiny homes” recently placed in a wooded area along Burbank Drive in Baton Rouge will be used as rental properties, the owner says.

Four homes are being placed on individual lots that measure about 530 square feet each, said East Baton Rouge Parish Deputy Building Official Bill Pousson.

They are located on land along the east side of Burbank Drive between The Shed BBQ restaurant and Lee Drive, about 5 miles from LSU’s Tiger Stadium.

Pousson said the property is located in wetlands and the developer received approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to place the homes there.

The property owner says he has still not decided whether to use the homes as long-term rentals or if he will offer them as short-term Airbnb rentals.

There is still more work to do in order to complete the project including elevating the homes and placing them on permanent foundations.

The owners of the house on Highland Road own the three or four tracts of land "behind" their property, across Bayou Fountain on the Burbank side. Just like the article states, they are tiny homes meant to be rentals. So they are inviting random people to stay on their flood-prone property, 500 feet from their actual home. One of the most random business decisions I've heard of in a while.

Hope somebody doesn’t get the same wild idea on the stretch of Burbank between Lee & Jennifer Jean. Lots of undeveloped land

How does something like that get approved?
Well, it's Baton Rouge. So, any question about how retarded things are allowed to happen pretty much answers itself.

The permanent foundation is cinder blocks. It looks like Boudreaux and Thibodeaux got together and built a couple of camps in the swamp.

That was the “Stilted Mansion.” I’ve spent many a late. Hits drinking over there.

It’s been torn down along with the trailer that was off behind/to the side of it.

Seems like a pretty good decision, for land that has minimal real value based on the cost to cure. With the Parish's latest storm water requirements and Corps wetland requirements, houses on piers is likely the best use possible. With the tightening of permitting requirements in our area, it's beginning to be a cheaper option to put land into commerce.
