My 2024 has had more issues than I'd like for the reputation these vehicles have, and I only have 50k miles on it. Should have gone Sienna, and may end up trading into one soon
Feels like everything is shite these days. My wife has a 6.2 Yukon XL and we got rid of it for a Yukon XL with the Duramax, it's getting delivered in about 30 minutes actually.
Our approach was buy cheaper used, save the payment and just accept that some shite is going to break. Generally with the duramax it's emissions or trans, not necessarily the engine deciding it wants to spin a bearing.

FTR, I am trying to get her into a Sequoia or 2022/23 Lexus LX, but the prices of those seem to be pretty outrageous for used vehicles.
Hence the good advice to get her a more useful and much cheaper Odyssey or Sienna

Nothing worse than pressing the accelerator to merge onto the MRB and feel the engine lag while it goes from 4 cyl to 8cyl.
Easily and cheaply fixable.

My wife would absolutely never drive a minivan
She's not a snob, in that she's had pretty average arse cars in her day (e.g. Mazdas/Kias/etc), but she hates the way minivans look.
I'm trying to bridge the gap between her aesthetic wants and my reliability wants and obviously price, which we both agree on.
Her first choice was a Jeep Wagoneer and I didn't let her finish the sentence before saying hell no

Yeah because any of the Toyota products pre-turbo are objectively much better powertrains than the ones that followed.
I’m waiting for my next purchase until they figure it out and I’m not at all convinced they have yet.

Dont think quality, reliability, or practicality are on the list of boxes to check in this scenario.

The new Nissan Armadas are nice.

I'm throwing those and QX80s in the mix to see if she bites. They do have negatives, but overall, reliability reports seem pretty good if you get the right year.

If you're referring to a plug-in AFM (Active Fuel Management)/ DFM (Dynamic Fuel Management) disabler, neither replaces the lifters or mechanically deletes the cylinder-deactivation system, so neither provides guaranteed protection against lifter failure.
FWIW: The 2020-2026 HD truck with 6.6L L8T engine does not have AFM or DFM

There a bunch of disablers available. My Chevy dealer suggested Boost and have been using it for just over a year. Disables the cyclinder deactivation and also disables the auto off when I come to a stop.
Amazon Boost AFM/DFM
$149.00

Buy a 5.3 and immediately delete the active fuel management. The engine will then be reliable. By delete I mean full replacement of the cam and lifters.
Just stay the hell away from the 2020-2022 models. You have the active fuel management you have to get rid of... and then those are the worst years for the 10 speed transmissions.

Zero issues, my wife drives a newer 2025 max, which gets about 18 mpg

Stay away from anything made by GM in the last few years.

I wonder what it is about minivans that make so many women upset. I’m talking about the average woman who doesn’t care all at about cars or performance but decides she would never be caught dead in a minivan. It’s a weird thing bc many of those women happily drove little SUVs that are essentially just less utilitarian minivans.

Yeah, but that’s a lot of work to have to do to a new car. But yeah that’s the answer.

If you talk to mechanics, none of them
