What are the rules on deer stands and proximity to homes in your state?

I was walking in my woods about 75 yards from my home and accidentally stumbled upon a guy in his deer stand that has to be right on the property line. They own a lot of woods but on my street it is built up with houses on ~one acre lots.

Lots of kids on my street too.

If he's on his property there's nothing you can do about it.

You may want to check if there is a no shooting ordinance where you live.

Gun.

I've been hearing shooting at night and didn't know who it was until I nearly walked into his field of fire.

A courtesy call would have at least been nice. A little rude to not make us aware.

I have nothing against stands in backyards. Just curious about the rules with them shooting rifles at night when there are homes less than 100 yards behind the stand.

I'm about to go check my property markers to make sure they're not over the line.

Deer hunting at night is illegal period.

If he is on his land and in most cases over 300 feet is legal even if you don't like it. This stuff happens when inevitable sprawl moves to more rural areas.

Indeed. And you see that clash a lot where I am. I am just looking out for me and mine.

I don't want to needlessly stop somebody from doing what they love.

He's probably checking your wife out with binoculars while beating his meat.

I think Alabamas rule is you can't shoot within 100yds of an occupied building without the owners permission.

I want to say a stand must be at least 50ft from property line. Not sure about an inhabited dwelling. I have problems with this. Where I live, the Subdivision laws state 1 house per 10 acres but people are breaking the rules on the houses so that should tell you they don't give a shite about deer stands. I don't plant or put corn out because people had stands all along my property line. They are not directly hurting me and it really doesn't bother me much besides the fact that they are inconsiderate so I never say anything.

Be an adult

Go talk to this individual respectfully

Listen to his input, ask your questions and state your concerns regarding the children

Don't approach as a a-hole do it respectfully

Cops may say shooting in a residential area. Weather that holds in court, it is something they often say

It's a parish ordinance. Fixed hunting stands have to be 50 yards from the property line or 100 yards from the center of the creek

Better start wearing Clemson gear when you're outside.

The gun or bow argument really doesn't matter.

If the guy is in a stand, he is shooting at a downward angle. The bullet isn't gonna go off like a punt and come down in a neighborhood somewhere.

Ew I'd rather just risk injury or death than voluntarily wear Dabo stuff.
