I like sipping on a good bourbon. Helps take the edge off a long stressful day.

For some people that can be maintained, and your body remains a pickle forever. For some of us unfortunate others, we turn into a cucumber and cannot ever go back to regular drinking.

Pure abstinence is the only way many of us cucumbers will stay alive. We can NOT drink like The normal folks. Our brains and bodies have undergone a physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual transformation as a result of drinking lots of alcohol.

The first sign is that Alcohol is causing problems in your life yet you keep drinking. The problems can be minor or major but problems still. If the booze is more important than the problems it causes then there may be a problem.

one sign...when you stop drinking and life gets worse

Too many down votes. When the alcohol or drugs are removed for the typical alcoholic who is plagued by resentment, selfishness, dishonesty and fear, then life gets worse without taking the necessary action.

Oh, Good Lord. How could anyone drink Dr. Tichenor's?
That shite could peel the hide off a buffalo.

It is shocking to see the things an addict will do to get that fix.

I had a good friend that did this and he died of liver failure about 2 years ago. Just absolutely drank himself to death at 54years old. I remember when we were teenagers and he started drinking and would just get slammed at the age of 16 and never checked up until he died. Shame. He was a great guy.

First sign is you quit all your hobbies and drinking is your hobby. Basically it's all you think about and your day revolves around it. My dad is a 20 year AA person. Went through a time when I feared being an alcoholic due to the supposed genetic aspect of it. I've come to terms with me just loving a beer buzz.

Elizaebth Vargas (NBC) said it best. “I would die for my children but I couldn’t quit drinking for them” Alcoholism is rough on everyone.
