Camp Ozark looks fun. Trying to find a camp (like the one from Meatballs or heavyweights) for a kid. But have any of you been a camp counselor at one of these things? Was it like Wet Hot American summer? Was it fun?

I went to Ozark for a few years as a kid. It was definitely fun.

I never believed those camps were ever a real thing. Except for fat camps I'm sure those are real. Terrorizing a fat kid for a couple weeks, teasing him with sweets and calling him names has to be fun for some.

I went to camp Win-A-Friend put on by the LSP. It was fun but it's closed now. If you got caught getting into a spat with another camper the troopers made you put on gloves and Duke it out in front of everyone, good times. I'd like to send my kid to one, I know the Woodman put on a camp in Abbeville. My nephew told me he had a great time there.

The Germans had some sleep away camps.

But we've discussed them here before.

In other words,

Germans.

We did Strong River all growing up and then I did one year at Ozark. Both of them are a blast.

Ropes courses, rapids, bonfires, color wars, capture the flag, summer camp girlfriends

Summer camp was the shite.

I always got sent to Camp Alabama in Choudrant, LA for a week each summer.

No horses but everything else. Swimming, canoeing, archery, lanyard making, dances, Ect.

Looks like it may be still operating but not sure if it's still a normal kid camp.
