New to Baton Rouge and I was just wondering if there are some good roads to just cruise on, or watch the sunrise/set? Just listen to some Cat Stevens and relax nothing better.

Just stop and park anywhere in the 70805. You will soon be in heaven....literally!

The serious response would be River Rd.

Is that kind of decrepit platform by the river still there/accessible? I remember going there when I was at LSU.

Drive down River Road and park by the I-10 Bridge. That's where we used to go for sunset/late nights.

Miss River at Southern University. Best view in BR.

You might not want to go alone.

Or at all.

The Mississippi River levee at Scott's Bluff on the Southern University campus. Absolutely beautiful...seriously. I'll dig through some of my old photos and try to post a picture.

That's the old City Dock; it's now the site of the pending Water Campus of LSU.
