“He stopped loving her today”
It was embarrassingly within the last few years that I realized the poor sap did indeed love her till he died.

When I was 5 or so I really tried to figure out what Glen was singing about when he was a lineman for the Cowboys and what he was doing on that drive...

It took me forever, but I finally figured out the lyrics to "Tequila"...

I resonate with that song as well as Cats in the Cradle now.
Sorry to hear it, that one is sad as heck.
Agree. I hate that song. It's the total opposite of how I raised my sons.

Another good Bob Seager one, Rock N Roll never forgets:
So you're a little bit older and a lot less bolder
Than you used to be
So you used to shake 'em down
But now you stop and think about your dignity
So now sweet sixteen's turned thirty-one
You get to feelin' weary when the work day's done
So you're a little bit older and a lot less bolder
Than you used to be
So you used to shake 'em down
But now you stop and think about your dignity
So now sweet sixteen's turned thirty-one
You get to feelin' weary when the work day's done

Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes

The lyrics of La Villa Strangiato” have always been kinda mundane to me, but they finally struck a chord and I get it. My favorite Karaoke song.

Last dance with Mary Jane, Tom Petty. I was in middle school then and thought it was about a woman.

In the Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics
I think of my relationship with my father growing up, him with his father as he battled dementia, and my how my mom's father was killed while my mom was pregnant for me and he never had a chance to see any of his grandchildren as I am the oldest one.
And how fortunate I've been to be blessed with 3 healthy children to love.
Second would be the The Walk by Sawyer Brown and how we go through changes in life and we each play our part until the end to comfort our families.

quote:
Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door
I know that I'm a prisoner
To all my Father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years
Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got
You say you just don't see it
He says it's perfect sense
You just can't get agreement
In this present tense
We all talk a different language
Talking in defence
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
It's the bitterness that lasts
So Don't yield to the fortunes
You sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective
On a different day
And if you don't give up, and don't give in
You may just be OK.
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
I wasn't there that morning
When my Father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say
I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo
In my baby's new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye

quote:
Down our long dusty driveway
I didn't want to go
But I set out with tears in my eyes a wonderin'
Daddy took me by the hand
Looked out at the school bus and his little man and said
"Don't worry boy it'll be all right"
'Cause I took this walk you're walking now
Boy, I've been in your shoes
You can't hold back the hands of time
It's just something you've got to do
So dry your eyes I understand just what you're going through
'Cause I took this same walk with my old man
Boy, I've been in your shoes
Down our long dusty driveway
I set my mind to go
Well, I was eighteen and wild and free and a wonderin'
Daddy took me by the hand
Looked out at the world and his grown man and said
"Don't worry boy it'll be all right"
'Cause I took this walk you're walking now
Boy, I've been in your shoes
You can't hold back the hands of time
It's just something you've got to do
So dry your eyes I understand just what you're going through
'Cause I took this same walk with my old man
Boy, I've been in your shoes
Down our long dusty driveway
This time we both would go
Well he had grown old and gray
And his mind was a wandering
Daddy took me by the hand
Said, "I know where we're going
And I understand
Don't worry boy it'll be alright"
'Cause I took this walk you're walking now
Boy, I've been in your shoes
You can't hold back the hands of time
It's just something you've got to do
So dry your eyes I understand just what you're going through
'Cause I took this same walk with my old man
Boy, I've been in your shoes

There's a bathroom on the right
instead of.....
There's a bad moon on the rise. Of course this is a CCR song.
