IT consultants can make $100+ an hour, and due to budgetary constraints often work only 40 hours a week. Bear in mind that hourly paid consultants might not have benefits, insurance, 401K, paid vacation, etc. And they work projects that may only last a few months.

I don’t what to say other than I know where I am and others in positions one spot above and below me and the majority are well above $150k with variable included.
Base doesn’t get much higher even with our more senior roles but variable skyrockets.

I feel like this thread has gone off the rails, as most do after 1 page.
It's been stated a few times, but nearly every job making 200k+ is definitely going to be over 40 hours.
I know of no physicians, or even lowly podiatrists like myself, who are making that money and working less than 40 hours. Maybe a dermatologist but even that is unlikely. I'd say I'm averaging at least 60 hours a week right now. That's really not too bad compared to some other specialties.

I make $85k/year teaching and coaching which is above average, but I feel ya. Living here in Oxford (about the only affluential part of the state) I am surrounded by doctors and lawyers. I feel poor.
Imagine if you actually worked year round instead of 6 months out of the year

edit: missed that bit of info on the OP

I see this again and again in this thread and it's not entirely true. You can put in the hours when younger and build a business that will enable you to eventually work 40 or less and be at the $200K+ level of income. Speaking from experience.

I’ve been working in derm for 10 years in the private sector and it is very lucrative and nobody works over 40 hours per week.

There are 4.5 million people in Lousiana. There are 160000 registered TD users. Even if we omit the fact that not all users are from Lousiana we arrive at 5% of 4.5 million which is ~230000 people.
It is not unreasonable to have 10000 affluent users when most of this board is college educated white people.
Not even no, but frick no.
I dunno, go here and see if you can figure out a path

It is a lot of graphs and I cannot find one that proves 6% of TD posters make more than $200,000 as an individual.
