I remember my grandfather loved taking my brother and I when we were little to Showbiz when they came by to visit. He got a kick out of the animatronics. It's a damn shame the company and the guy who came up with the characters didn't come to an agreement. Showbiz decided to replace them with that rat bastard Chuck E. Cheese since they owned the rights to him and his cavalcade of crap.

Nolan Bushnell came up with Chuck E. Cheese. They were doing worse than Showbiz so Showbiz bought them and in some cases had Chuck E. in some Showbiz locations. Aaron Fechter owns the rights to the "Rock-a-fire Explosion". His company Creative Engineering made them as well as coming up with the original Whac-a-mole.
From what I understand, Aaron didn't want to give up the rights even though Showbiz was willing to buy it from him. They already owned Chuck E. Cheese, so in the early 90s they replaced all the Showbiz locations with Chuck E. Cheese characters.

Used to be every gas station was either a Time Saver, Shell, or Texaco. I can only think of two Time Savers around me now
