All these stories of walmart managers making that kind of money are shocking to me. I'm not saying they aren't true, but I know for a fact what walmart pays their corporate finance and accounting staff in bentonville and it's very low. They can't keep anyone there very long because of it.

People I know that make great money off walmart are third party supplier types. Walmart corporate is long hours and low pays, but it opens doors to great money.

The store manager stories in Arkansas are plentiful. Everyone here knows someone who had a grandad/great uncle that retired at 50 off walmart stock. Hell, most of the athletic facilities at UofA are named after millionaires that got rich with Walmart and became big donors.

possibly true for ground floor employees that took stock as part of their compensation, at Southwest airlines they used to call the station at Corpus Christi the millionaire's club because all of the employees there(this was years back,) were all original employees that had made millions off of stock options, cashed them out and were just working at WN for the benefits

6 figures, but this:

doesn't really get much better. Wal Mart store managers can make upwards of $200k, but the job is horrible and you're almost never off.

Her aren't bad and she doesn't have much of an issue with rude customers. She was working for a specialty grocery chain until they went under though so she had a fairly upscale clientele.

It’s not the salaries of the managers but the bonuses you can receive if you meet or exceed the parameters used to determine the bonus.

Salaries are based on several factors but I can tell you the size of the store does not affect the salary but how much (sales) the store does a year. Then there are other things to look at when determining the salaries.

MM make very good and more than store managers and they have a very Nice compensation package along with a great bonus structure payout if the criteria is meet.

I won’t go into it any farther but this isn’t OT bragging I know for a fact what all the starting, mid range, and starting pay is for managers and I know what % bonus they can make and the criteria used to determine the amount.

It has to be for all the crap managers put up with each and everyday.

I think this has changed in the last year. Hiring at the majors gutted their flight department, so they had to increase pay. However, they don’t have a CBA, so that could change tomorrow.

yeah, the airline hiring booms always exert an upward mobility for most gen av flying jobs, also depletes a lot of experience in those ranks

I have worked with several peeps that came from Walmart. They all liked their job but they saw the older folks(highest earners) get furloughed first and didn’t want to take the risk of getting furloughed just as little Johnny was going off to college.

i see after re-reading that he is saying a base salary PLUS 10% of profits got the total to over 100k but i don't really feel that bad at the misinterpretation based on how it was written

one kinko's location PROFITS over a million dollars? even in dallas or NY, that seems odd

My store in Dallas did 2.2 million per year and we profited 45%
So my bonus was 99,0000 and my salary 25,000.

We were a well oiled machine.

Much different than when I worked at Kinkos in downtown BR during college and people haggled over paying 5 cents per copy

Are you referring to the guys that go pilot the ships into New Orleans or the tug captains pushing barges on the river?

My BIL is a tug captain and bounces from the MS all the way over to the Houston Ship Channel and although he makes decent, it isn't economic security for a lifetime.
