Looking for a new office desk chair for my home office. I would say the budget is $200.00, but I would go over that if it’s recommended.
Thanks, OT

Serta from Office Depot. I've had mine for 4 years and still very happy. Should be 200-250 range.

Probably looking at 300-500 bucks for the startup/kickstarter type ergonomic chairs, most of which are decent. For a little more you can look at Steelcase, HM, etc. You can also get a used one for well below that, many of which are in good shape from office closures and the like.
I feel like everyone in my office has tried a different one in that price range and they're all fine. They're all considerably better than the Office Depot-level stuff you get for 150 bucks.

I’m not too picky when it comes to desk chairs. I just want something that’s going to provide good lower back support. I have a pulled muscle at the moment.

Used Miller or Steelcase. Should be able to get a sweet deal from liquidators now that the economy has tanked.
Normally used are around $300 but likely to be lower with covid. Even at 300 #worthit. Might need new lift cylinder, $20.

I have a Humanscale saddle seat, it’s damn good ~$300.
Impossible not to use good posture.
Try slouching in that fricker...you’ll be on the floor.

There is an interim class of consumer-grade chairs, probably like the Serta mentioned, the cheaper wooden/leather chairs from furniture stores for 200-400 bucks, stuff like that, and in my experience they'll be more comfortable but will still have longevity issues. That said, if it isn't used much and you find it comfortable, probably works. I've chairs like that and it may be worth it to replace a 200 buck chair every 2 years.
I think moving to a more business/everyday level use chair pays off in support and longevity. They roll better, locks and functions don't wear out as quickly, etc. I have a nice leather/wooden chair that goes with a desk in my home office, and after a week I went and got my ergo chair from the office (primarily for back support).

I work from home 3 days out of the week
Thanks for the info, man. All that is great stuff and a lot to consider
