I’ve been driving a lot lately for work out of my normal range for local sports talk. Signed up for the free trial. I’ll most likely stick to the various sports talk stations. Any other talk radio stations worth checking out?

I think he said talk.

I like Megan Kelly at 11 on 111.
Dr Laura Schlesinger followers her at 1 and I’ve been listening to her for several weeks. I’ve always understood that the prevailing opinion was that she is crazy, the devil, whatever; but she makes a lot of sense. Basically tells people not to get married too soon and frick a lot after you’re married.

Underground Garage

Greatest radio station in the history of the world or anywhere else. Plays everything from 50s rockabilly and 60s garage nuggets through 70s punk/new wave to current bands.

quote:

A satellite radio station created and supervised by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt to present rock 'n' roll and garage rock on radio. It plays a mixture of garage rock both old and new, and the music which influenced today's garage rock.

The radio channel is programmed and run by Van Zandt. The programs are hosted by a team of personalities personally selected by Van Zandt. On-air hosts on the channel include original Rolling Stones manager/producer Andrew Loog Oldham, punk rock singer Handsome Dick Manitoba (The Dictators), The Mighty Manfred (lead singer of The Woggles), veteran FM radio deejays Kid Leo and Bill Kelly, and musician/producer Genya Ravan (originally the singer in Goldie & the Gingerbreads). A version of the popular Breakfast with the Beatles program, hosted by Chris Carter, appears on the channel each Sunday.
quote:

Musical philosophy

The music format of the 24/7 satellite radio channel is based on Van Zandt's musical philosophy and approach to rock 'n' roll. Van Zandt believes that rock 'n' roll is a continuum from the early 1950s onwards and that it is artificial and counter-productive to segregate music by the decade it was created. So the Underground Garage presents music from every decade since the beginnings of rock 'n' roll in the early 1950s to the present day.

Stylistically, the format's offerings span such genres and categories as garage rock, girl groups, British Invasion, psychedelic music, rockabilly, surf rock, and punk rock. The music is fully integrated so that listeners hear recordings by rock pioneers such as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard and Elvis Presley juxtaposed with records by present-day garage bands like The Contrast - and multiple artists from the four decades between.
quote:

Van Zandt has stated that he hopes to draw younger listeners (who are attracted because of the current artists) to hear the historic acts that paved the way for today's rock. And older listeners (who are attracted because of the vintage artists) to hear the artists who are carrying on the tradition.
Little Steven once described the Underground Garage as featuring "All the artists that influenced The Ramones, all the artists that were influenced by The Ramones, and The Ramones".

What kind of talk radio?

Politics?

Conservative is 125
Liberal is 127

Sports?

College is channel 84
ESPN is channel 80

There are other channels for each sport, including golf

Various?

Triumph is channel 111. Anything from Megyn Kelly to Dave Ramsey

Volume is 106. All about music. Interviews, etc. But the lineup is changing on August 1.

84 is good for college. 88 for NFL. 371-374 for whatever conference you follow. Again, 113 for Fox Business (Varney and Co. is great). 114 for other news and The Five.

Going off of SiriusXM, find Markley, Van Camp and Robbins. Multi-generational talk about politics, entertainment and life. Very funny.
