Depends on the kid(s) too, as well as situation and how far away you'll be.

You aren’t asking for ages and addresses are you?
Seriously we started with short periods of time at 10 but my son is pretty responsible.

I sure hope you aren’t serious. Kids and situations are different. There is no even reasonable estimate here.

I hear this a lot, but in reality most people know little about their neighbors, or they live in rural areas thinking it is safer that the city. My brother as an example lives on a mini ranch outside a small town, he said he was glad because he didn't have to worry about his kids. I got on his computer and found he had two registered sex offenders within a mile of his place.

My kids stayed home alone for the first time when my oldest was 13, but we probably could’ve allowed it sooner.

Depends on where you live, how long you're gone, number of kids, and how responsible

I honestly think if you raise a kid to have some independence and they're smart they should be able to manage themselves if no external threats at earliest age 6 or 7 for several hours without too much worry. That's with a trusted neighbor in case something comes up or now that we carry cell phones. I think laws are in place of something like 11 though

There really is an age range. Ya see, Mom's 79 and not able to live by herself...

Whose kid? Where are they?

They are not all the same.

Op needs day to day guidance, not a number.

"Safe" is subjective.

It's 12 legally, however, in MS.

The problem is the boyfriend she will call the moment you leave the house. Protip: He won't be wearing a condom.
