They have attempted finding a corona vaccine for 20 years and haven't gotten close.
People think these being developed in months are going to be safe.......sad.

Why didn't they suppress the invention of the automobile? They could have kept selling horses, buggies, buggy whips, etc.

There have no doubt long been forces at play that slow the progress of various medical advancements. In the end, the common good usually (and thankfully) prevails, but there are definitely people who work to suppress these advancements (see the anti-vax movement).

True, but there are labs working towards a universal flu vaccine. That's what I was thinking of since we're talking hypothetically anyway.

There are several veterinary coronavirus vaccines.
Researchers have been working on a human vaccine since SARs1. They couldn't do human testing since it died out.
There are several Covid 19 vaccines that have proven to be safe and effective in groups of up to 1500 people already. 2 of the vaccines will be tested in groups between 30-50k people within the next six weeks.
Millions of doses will be available by September/October with enough for everyone in the US by January.

Because building a car and the ensuing financing (for non OT balers) is more profitable than raising and selling a horse with the buggie delux package
