The real question is...Were you a Boy Scout AND did you use RoundUp helping your Dad in the yard back in 1999....if so, you can expect 2 huuuge checks coming your way
If you helped remove materials made of asbestos from homes affected by natural disasters, you could hit the trifecta with Mesothelioma.

At that time I truly didn't think life could get any better, it was a dream come true for a Middle School boy. Great times.
Ushering SEC games at Memorial Stadium led to bigger things for me. While in college, I was a volunteer assistant for my old high school football team. I got to call the defense from the sideline for a couple of years.
I liked getting into games free so much, I got a journalism degree, moved to Dallas and worked Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, Stars, Cotton Bowls, NCAA tournaments, Big 12 Media Days, and more for nearly 30 years. I was able to do that on the side, while selling advertising for a living.
Wearing the Scout uniform never bothered me after they introduced the shorts and permanent press material. Before the permanent press uniforms came out, my mom was ironing four different ones every time we needed them. She still talks about that when anyone mentions ironing something.
IP let us have the Christmas tree farm on their land and donated saplings to plant. We did Sand art, and sold it, at arts and crafts shows, flea markets, and festivals. We always had money to camp, go to jamborees, or buy uniforms for kids, who's parents wouldn't spend money on them.
Working those shows was great experience for dealing with customers, public speaking, and just getting through life.

Made Eagle Still great friends with the guys that were in my troop. We have a few guys that still go on a kayaking trip every year. we are all around 40.
Sure.. there are some dorks in scouts, but we had a lot of fun. Definitely wouldn't consider us dorks back then. We all finished eagle around 16 or so.
I am currently Den Leader for my sons cubscout group. We do more fun things than most cubscout dens.
Its one of the best things i did as a kid. I would highly recommend it if camping is fun for you.

No, my dad and grandpa knew how to hunt, fish, and camp - they taught me
Not some pedophile scout master who’s never seen brown in a scope or run a trot line

Not sure what’s becoming of BSA, but I have two girls (and another on the way) so I won’t have that decision to make whether to put my kids in Boy Scouts.
Yes you do.... its just scouts now...not boy scouts... girls allowed

For like 2 months in second grade. My scout master sucked and wasn't creative at all. We glued feathers on a wooden axe the whole time I was there...

Yes. Until I was 14. My best friend's dad at the time was our scoutmaster. He was a Naval intelligence officer. I enjoyed it and learned alot. Then the scoutmaster (and my best friend) moved to Langley. The troop went on hiatus for about 6 months after that. Once a new scoutmaster was found I went back and it was just a bunch of hyper 11 year olds and their redneck dads as the scoutmaster, assistant scoutmasters. I didn't go back.

Loved Cub Scouts and got every merit badge possible living in SW LA. But I lived in a small town and a year after out of Cubs a new resident started Webelos. Everyone wanted to go camping so we went for an overnight campout in some cow pasture. Older kids all talked about going frick some cows. Rained like a mofo, water flooded the tents (set up on high ground). I did not sleep a wink and quit afterwards.

I was a cub scout for 1 meeting. We were so bad, our den mother quit after that.

Scout master showed us Playboy and nudes of his wife. I was 8.
I believe one of these but not the other. Anyway I hope the experience was good.

Never made it that far: I bailed as a Cub Scout.
I didn’t like the idea of doing things to earn patches and beads. Seemed like a misguided goal for crafting, which I hated. Was also gay as frick. The scout masters always touched other boys, but not me. But oddly there was no patch for getting a handy from the scout master, so why would I stay anyway?
