often people who bought them would get seasick because it feels like it never stops moving.
Ours lacked baffles. So it could really rock at times. MsNC has horrible seasickness. Seasickness never was close to an issue. If someone ever got sick on a WB, it was a very rare occurence.

Until the tide went out before sunrise. Fact

Yes, I slept on one from 1986 to 2012 when my house got flooded after Hurricane Isaac put 3-1/2 feet of the Bouge Chitto River in my house.
Miss my old full motion water bed every day. The numbers bed I sleep on now cannot compare to that old bed.

was a novelty to get dingy women on top of them though.
And on top of you. That shite was work for me on top. Even for young me.
Overall not worth the hassle. Used to laugh when people had those frickers upstairs. 1000 damned pounds of furniture and water and whatever you put in them (some blue shite) to keep the water “clean”.

They were absolute shite for having sex on though.
This is disappointing to hear.
That dude's a cuck, there were great for sex.

When you are young, single, and stupid.
OOOH, yeah!
Sex on one sucked as you would slosh around.
Sleeping sucked.
Older and want a good night rest.
They they suck.

I had one for years. The safety liner had gotten torn so sleeping on it was like a time bomb.

The only good thing about a water bed was coating it with mineral oil for a freaky sex romp. Absolutely a terrible place to sleep but awesome for activites

I miss mine it was full motion with no baffle. Nothing better than working in the cold all day and crawling in that warm waterbed at night.

Were they comfortable?
I didn't think so.

I had a semi-waveless for 15 years. The sex was good. You just had to slide to the end and use the frame for leverage to push. The waves took over after that. I also used oil a few times like one of the other posters.
I would turn the heater off in the summer so you could still sleep with covers on. Climbing into a warm bed in the winter was wonderful.
My two medium sized dogs loved it. You could not get them to move if they were laying in your way trying to straighten your legs
It was good at the time, but have moved on

FTR tempur-pedic is great for sleep but also a shite bed for sex. You need a good foot-hold or knee-hold but the bed just keeps giving.

I had one in the 1980s and in to the 90s.
I loved it. Very comfortable.
But it was high maintenance. The tubes had to be topped off from time to time and it was a mess when one of them popped which happened about once a year or so.

The water mattress itself was.
But the wooden framing around it was very nice to incorporate into the act.

I had one for many years and loved it. But my wife complained about how hard it was to change and clean and she said it hurt her back. So she won out. But I still miss it.

Comfortable? No
Fun? Yes

YES! Excellent. Best bed/mattress I ever owned (might now go back after thinking about it.)
You'll love it.
Had a higher end Cal King for 20 years. Even bought one for the babies / kids. (it's a sensation of being womb-like; warm and reduces aches, pains and pressure points so you sleep MUCH better & deeper.) You can even slightly reduce the temp in warmer weather if you "sleep hot".
Peeps who disliked the water bed experience probably didn't like them for good reason. It must be filled properly (back-lumbar support), if they lacked baffles they sloshed around too much; and yes, the thermostat-heater must be dependable.
So...You need a "baffled" system that restricts
that annoying sloshing movement.
IF you do this, purchase a quality thicker gauge liner; a baffled unit that has minimal movement; and make sure your heating device / thermostat are also quality. You'll also want "railing" pads on both side of the bed. A Waterbed is NOT a complicated process.
PAY THE PRICE for a premium unit -- don't cheap out. FWIW I've tried all of the traditional mattresses types; they don't come close to a waterbed. Go for the gusto -- and good luck.
