I would say that would be a normal reaction.

I don't think he was a road trooper for the last 6 years.

After testing him for impairment, the trooper proceeded to arrest Perkins for a DWI. However, Perkins resisted arrest and was tased before he was taken into custody, Scrantz said. Perkins later submitted a breath alcohol sample and registered over twice the legal limit.

I’m surprised Perkins knew that he had been drinking and sped down Bluebonnet. The LSP are always posted up with speed traps on Bluebonnet, past and around Burbank. Secondly, I’m really surprised that he blew and agreed to sobriety tests. You would think a cop would immediately plead the fifth and not say a word to investigators and request and attorney with the quickness.

You don’t plead anything at the arrest site, nor is that where you ask for an attorney. He shouldn’t have taken any tests though.

Well the DA will likely have to dismiss all the troopers cases while he is suspended and or terminated .. speaking from experience..!!

False, you most certainly can ask for an attorney right away. Yeah, you’ll go to jail regardless, but your chances of beating it or getting a reduced charge is higher.

you can ask, but you aren't going to get the opportunity to contact an attorney until after you're booked, you can also ask the cop at the scene if he'll just let this one slide, results will likely be the same

You mean, as a potential scenario, that someone from LSP saw him at a bar and was drinking heavily, followed him in their PV then called it in that they were following a drunk driver?

that, or maybe an associate set up a meeting at the bar, had a few drinks, maybe encouraged one or two for the road and even picked up the tab, and had coordinated a unit on duty(obviously involved in hypo setup,) to be ready, and was alerted when perp left the bar, that's straight out of the PI "how to entrap the other party in a divorce," handbook
