The only serious thing I took from it was the mom was very upset.

So is the thought that you have to treat a step kid like a son.
Again, this says far more about you as an adult and quite frankly as a man.

Why would a kid want a relationship with someone that says “Well, you’re not mine”.

Virtually everyone did.
His step son came out gay, the mom is upset, the rest of shite you people got upset over.

You sound like a moron.
I am not sure if this is always the case, but there seems to always be signs someone will be gay. There might be parents who ignore those signs, but its not like he just woke up and said "you know what? I think I am going to be gay". Stop being an idiot and just let the dude be who he is.

Absolutely not.
Many times the kids never accept you. You dont bond.
Youre a progressive utopian who really doesn't understand the world outside of vapid platitudes.

That sounds like a you problem.

You think progressives are the only people who think it’s the adult thing to do if you marry someone with a kid is to help parent and raise them?
Those are some interesting family values there, bud. I know lots of folks with step kids who have good relationships.

its not his kid.
Older step kids don't often bond with step dads. Its a staple of child psychology.
You do what you can, but you cannot force them to accept you as an authority.

There's a pretty wide variance in what a stepdad can mean. Big difference if he raised the kid since he was 2 or married mom when the kid was 17.
My mom got remarried a year before I got married and he's technically my stepdad.

No, it’s not.

Thank goodness for him he gets to move away from his asswipe stepdad. His mom would have to divorce you, but he gets to just walk away.

Sure. OP’s contextual clues suggest the kid is under 18 and lives with them. He mentioned if it was his grandfather, he’d beat him with a belt. So I’m guessing definitely under 18.

I have to assume foot believes the kid's real dad is gay based on his literal reading and total trust in the words in the OP.

What does egocentric mean?
What age do kids gravitate toward peers and away from parents?
How old is the OPs kid?
Thanks expert.

One can only assume since he didn't provide this information, but based on how he phrased his post how old would you assume the kid is?

Late teens, instant bonding between kid and step dad has little opportunity.

If he still lives with y'all and is able to take care of himself then tell him to..

I don’t pretend anything. I also don’t run off to Alaska to shirk my responsibilities either. No shock that you’re supporting the “well he’s not mine” guy.

I’ve already explained how contextual clues in his posts suggests under 18. Are you dense?
