Although I didn’t see the article stating this part of the story, this was investigated and found to be a false accusation and all charges were dropped. I honestly would be surprised if it were related to this.

The linked article didn’t state that because it was when he was first arrested but that is the truth. He was a sweet, probably too naive, old man and this is a sad story.
