This rock formation is in SW Virginia between Harlan County KY and Pennington Gap VA. My papaw called it N word head rock. It's known as Stone Face nowadays.

Same.
One of the hardest non-math/science classes I took in college was History of the English Language. It was 400 level and a bitch, but also fascinating.
Dr. Bill Foster, English Dept. Chair, taught it. He and his wife, son and daughter toured for 20 years as The Foster Family String Band. They were honored five years in a row as String Band of the Year at the Bluegrass Music Award ceremonies in Nashville.
Super cool dude. Sorry, I went down memory lane!

My Arkansas friend insists that sort of behavior happens North of Greenbriar.

While growing up I remember elderly people pronounce it that way.
A very very long time ago when I was playing tee ball, my grandma came to a game. She had probably only left her small town a half dozen times in her life and was a very uneducated woman who somewhat grew up around black folks.
We had one little black boy on our team. When he hit the ball and took off running, my grandma blurted out….” Look at that little N word run!”.
My parents wanted to just go hide under the bleachers.

It's on the map now as "Negro Head Corner", the politically correct term.
Glad to know that Negro is acceptable... I know a few libs that got twisted because it was used.

I can hear battalions of liberal white women firing up their outrage machines to save these poor, benighted descendants of the original owner/sculptor from themselves.

Pretty damn good restaurant not far from there south (downstream) in Des Arc on the White (go figure) River named Dondie's
That's all I got.
There's also Forrest City (Nathan Bedford), Little Dixie, and Cotton Plant not far from there. One can guess the history.

I think I told this story on here before, I think, but this name reminds me of this story.
In White Castle, La... This was the late 80s there was a dude who ran for city council and his nick name was "super n word". When he went qualify for the election he put firstname "Super N word" lastname as the name he was running under. He had signs with his first and last name small but Super N word really big and he won.
Four years later when it came time to qualify again he was told they no longer allowed that word to be used so he had to qualify under his name, no nickname. He had to change his signs to have the name that was going to be on the ballot and he lost the election. Most people only knew him as "Super N word". It would be funny if he moved to Negro Head Corner Arkansas and he would mail things using his nick name Super Nword from Ne gro Head Corner, Ak.

N*gg*rd had nothing to do with the color of a persons skin and everything to do with the length of their arms and the depths of the pockets on their trousers
n*gg*rd /nig'?rd/
noun
A stingy, grasping person; a miser.
"That toffee nosed Brit had very deep pockets and very short arms"
If you can read a first edition of "Christmas Carol" you can read the words actually written and not replaced by hundreds of years of editing.
